READ WRITE RISEWHAT I DO
All interventions are Orton Gillingham based, implementing multi-sensory strategies with fidelity, in a highly interactive one-on-one setting. This provides optimal individualization and implementation.
Students will move along as quickly as possible, but as slow as necessary to ensure success. While improving their reading skills, students will be instilled with confidence and motivation.

I am a Reading Specialist and Certified Academic Language Therapist with a Masters Degree from Colorado College. Throughout my 20+ year career, I have been an educator and private reading tutor. Currently, I have a private practice out of my home in downtown Colorado Springs.
My philosophy is that I will strive to give my students every opportunity to thrive as readers and writers by providing research-based literacy intervention. I will implement systematic, differentiated and highly engaging curricula that generates confidence. My mission is to help students of all ages achieve personal academic goals and develop life-long learners.
Mission
The Environment
The teaching environment at Read, Write, Rise is positive, safe, and welcoming. Tutors are highly trained and always prepared. The classroom is mindfully set up to minimize the visual input around the physical workspace including the student’s line-of-vision. It is a place where active learning is priority.
Students achieve success as they systematically progress through their remedial plan. They are provided with foundational skills and background information that can assist them with feeling more secure in areas where they have not often found success.

504/IEP Meeting Preparation Assistance
$50 for 1 hour consultation
Read, Write, Rise can aid parents and students in the process of thinking through their individual 504/IEP needs and equip them with strategies to advocate for those accommodations and modifications.
In order for students to obtain special education services they need an IEP (Individualized Education Plan). The IEP provides accommodations or modifications in order to help the student engage effectively with the curricula and be successful in the school setting.
These accommodations can include, but are not limited to, extra time, the use of assistive technology, modifying homework requirements, providing alternatives for long writing assignments, receiving teacher’s prep notes, etc.
Not all kids need special education or individualized education plans (IEP’s). But they might still need support or services at school. A 504 plan is a blueprint for how the school will provide that support and remove barriers for a student with a disability. Its purpose is to give equal access to the general education curriculum.
504 plans aren’t the same as an IEP. They are each covered by different laws and are implemented in different ways, but the end goal is the same: to help students be successful in school. At Read, Write, Rise we will help walk you through the process.
Homeschool Consultant
$50 for 1 hour consultation
As a veteran homeschooler with a dyslexic child, it is my desire to come alongside and provide advice and assistance in the weighty decisions of how to homeschool your dyslexic child; from when to test or get outside remediation, curricula recommendations, and how to set reasonable short and long-term goals for your child.
Homeschooling a dyslexic child can be overwhelming and time-consuming. The good news is that dyslexic kids are naturally creative and gifted with many talents and skills. Homeschooling allows you the time to tap into their interests while equipping them with the tools to master the skills needed to be successful adults.

Education
What is Dyslexia?
Poor reading can also affect behavior in and out of school. Often, children who display school behavior issues are poor readers. How well children succeed in school affects their future endeavors in life.
